“Battlefield Archeology” is an exhibition organised under the auspices of the National Heritage Institute, addressing a rather specific field of activity for archaeologists – the study of sites of ancient battles. This research makes it possible to uncover the mysteries connected with armed conflicts fought throughout history. Thanks to the discoveries of archaeologists, it is possible to confirm or deny information known from historical sources.

The exhibition covers a fairly wide chronological range: from the stronghold in Wicino – conquered by Scythian warriors at the turn of the 6th/5th century BC, through the early medieval stronghold in Gostyń on Kowalowa Góra and the times of the Seven Years’ War, World War I, the Wielkopolska Uprising, up to World War II.
